The state-champion St. John-Hudson High School volleyball team claims two first-team all-Central Prairie League selections this season.
The Lady Tigers beat Olpe in the Class 1A Division-II state championship, 19-25, 25-22, 25-23. St. John finished the season with a 41-4 record.
Daniele Wendland, a senior middle blocker for the Lady Tigers, and Teresa Wade, a junior outside hitter, both were selected TO the first team by a unanimous vote.
The two players make up a third of the first team selections, all of whom were voted in unanimously.
St. John also boasts the most all-league selections among the CPL with five players.
Sophomore outside hitter Morgan Osborne and sophomore setter Jamie Waters each made the second team.
Senior setter Ava Long was selected to the honorable mention team.
Quivira Heights
The Quivira Heights volleyball team ended its season in the Class 1A Division-II state tournament, losing to Weskan, 25-14, 25-22 and Norwich, 25-10, 22-25, 25-16, in pool play.
The Lady Thunderbirds had two all-CPL players this season.
Senior hitter Kinsey Phelan was unanimously selected for the first team, while junior hitter Miranda Burton made honorable mention.
Claflin
The Claflin Wildcats boast two players unanimously selected for the All-CPL first team.
Seniors Natalie Hoffman and Ashlee Maier, both outside hitters for the Wildcats, make the first team for Claflin’s final season.
Macksville
Macksville has two all-CPL players this season.
Jena Clowers, a senior outside hitter for the Mustangs, was unanimously selected for the first team, while teammate Megan Wood, a senior setter, made honorable mention.
Otis-Bison
The CPL selected two players from the Otis-Bison volleyball team for all-league honors.
Dekota Nelson and Janel Tammen, both junior outside hitters, were selected for the all-league second team.
Hoisington
The Hoisington Lady Cardinals boast the most all-league selections among the four teams of the Mid-Central Activities Association with five.
Junior Mallory Flagor, an outside hitter, was the only selection to be unanimously voted onto the first team.
Flagor’s teammate sophomore libero Mykela Reidl joins her as the other Lady Redbird on the first team.
Ellinwood
While Hoisington has the most all-league selections, Ellinwood has the most first-team selections with three players.
Seniors Lauren Thill and Brittany Plfughoeft join sophomore Lindsey Zink on the first team.
Junior setter Kenzie Corbet was an honorable mention selection.
Larned
Senior middle hitter Amanda Haberman is the lone Larned volleyball player to be named as a first-team All-MCAA selection.
Britney Perez and Kileigh Dietrich, both senior outside hitters, were honorable mention picks.
