Three Great Bend wrestlers lose in 5A semifinals

 PARK CITY – No. 1 ranked Cody Liles (132) of Great Bend joined teammates Keaton Sander (138) and Christian Rivas (160) in losing in the Class 5A state wrestling semifinals. Each Great Bend wrestler had won two matches to reach Friday’s semifinals. All three Panthers can finish as high as third place.

Liles (42-4) lost 9-6 to No. 2 ranked Paul Stuart of Andover (36-2) in a battle of the top two wrestlers. Stuart won the 120-pound division last year.

Sander (34-4) lost 4-2 to Goddard’s No. 2 ranked Garrett Lange (33-5). Rivas (29-8) lost 3-1 to Lenexa St. James’ No. 3 ranked Sam Cokeley (43-7) in the semifinals. Coakley placed third at 152 pounds last year.
