ROZEL - The Pawnee Heights Tigers football fans celebrated like they'd won a state championship. A new beginning started with a shocking 65-20 Pawnee Heights 6-man football victory over Wheatland-Grinnell High School. The Tigers had not played a home football game in six years.
"This is a new era, the start of a new football tradition," said Jeff Chambers, Pawnee Heights coach. "The fans were having a blast. That really helped the players. The team was fired up and mentally ready to roll."
Kade Scott ignited a three-touchdown run o a 56-yard TD dash. Roger Klenke followed with a 60-yard TD and booted one of three 2-point extra-point kicks. Roger Klenke finished with four touchdowns. Scott scored three times and Caleb Karst added two TDs.
Scott returned an interception for a TD. Karst and Roger Klenke intercepted passes and Dalton Hamby recovered a fumble.
Center Dalton Hamby and ends Caleb Karst and Roger Klenke dominated the line of scrimmage.
"They physically dominated the line of scrimmage. Once the team gained momentum they gained confidence and never held back," Chambers said. "This is a moment that I'll always remember. What a night."
