HAYS — Hoisington High wrestlers Christopher Ball (145) and Landen Urban (285) captured first place in the Bob Kuhn Wrestling Classic. The Cardinals scored 123 points and placed fifth.
No. 2 state-ranked Ball (25-0) won four matches, including a 5-3 decision over Dalton Hensley of Ellis. Urban (26-0) won four matches on pins, including over Spring Hill’s Sam Christy in the finals.
Hoisington’s Tanner Cassity (126) and Austin McHenry (182) placed third. Cassity (21-5) beat Kapaun Mt. Carmel’s Grant Morrow in 1:42 for third place. McHenry 921-5) pinned Anthony Gaona of St. Thomas Aquinas in 2:42 for third place.
Justin Bradley (22-4, 220) placed fourth and Sean Urban (18-9, 160) placed sixth.
