ROSE HILL – A power outage caused problems in Great Bend Sunday night.

The Great Bend Bat Cats suffered through a similar issue in a 2-0 Sunflower Collegiate League baseball setback to the Rose Hill Sluggers.

The Bat Cats (3-4, 2-2 Sunflower League) plays at Rose Hill Monday and Rose Hill Tuesday at Wichita State’s Eck Stadium.

Tyler Henry singled for the Bat Cats’ lone base hit in nine innings.

The Bat Cats stranded two baserunners in scoring position. Henry singled and Collin Meinert walked in the second inning. But Christian Oliver was retired with two out by starter Tanner Olmstead.

Meinert and Oliver walked to lead off the fifth inning. But reliever Ethan Peterson retired Chance Ragsdale, Alex Rodgers and sparkplug Seth Kenagy.

Rose Hill touched Bat Cats starter Jarrett Seaton for two first-inning runs. Mason Hartman and Matt Johnson singled. Hunter Gibson doubled home Hartman. Kelsey Weems doubled home Johnson for a 2-0 lead.

Barton Community College graduate Seaton and relievers Jayden Saylor and Marty Carnahan shut out the Sluggers in the final seven innings. Saylor struck out six batters in 22/3 innings.
