HAYS— Great Bend’s 16U Rebel softball team won the Kansas KSA Class C state championship last weekend at the state tournament in Hays. Great Bend received a first round bye then defeated Clay Center 17-2 and Kansas Storm twice by scores of 4-3 and 5-2 in the championship game. The Rebels improved upon their 3rd place finish at state last year. The team includes players from Great Bend and Lyons. The Rebels are coached by Bob Marcum, Steve Neeland, and Alex Cape.
