Seven Larned wrestlers advance

SCOTT CITY – Returning state champion No. 5 state-ranked Samajay Alboyd (31-4, 160) headlines seven Larned wrestlers who earned 4A wrestling regional berths Saturday. Alboyd captured last year’s 3-1A state championship (145) with a 6-3 victory over Kingman’s Kolby Schreiner.

Alboyd defeated Colby’s No. 3 ranked Wyatt Tubbs 4-2 in the championship match.

Larned’s returning state qualifiers Gatlin Hoch (27-7, 132) and Joshua Kramer (8-9, 170) earned runner-up finishes along with Carter Atteberry (25-5, 220). In championship matches, Scott City’s Zach Rohrbough pinned Hoch (1:19; Scott City’s Lance Miller defeated Kramer 10-4; and Goodland’s Dexter Dautel edged Atteberry 7-6.

Also Larned wrestlers qualifying Feb. 12 at the Ulysses regional are third-place Jameson Smith (3-9, 106); fourth-place Jacob Colglazier (9-19, 145) and fourth place Corbin Weers (5-20, 126). Scott City and Pratt districts compete at Ulysses.
