LANGDON — St. John drove to Fairfield’s 1-yard line when the Falcons’ Ashtin Cochran Zapien pushed Caden McCandless out of-bounds near the goal-line.  The next Falcons’ drive reached the Falcon 24-yard line when McCandless dropped the football close to a first down.

The Falcons responded by driving 79- and 55-yards on their first two drives en route to  a 50-0 victory over St. John in Monday’s non-league football game. St. John (0-3) beat Fairfield (1-2) 34-32 and 56-52 last season. Fairfield snapped a 17-game losing streak dating back to a 56-12 victory over Burrton in 2019. 

Fairfield quarterback Brady Fowler rushed for three touchdowns and passed for two scores. Ashtin Cochran rushed for 194 yards and scored on 39- and 61-yard runs. Fowler scored on 1, 5- and 10-yard runs. He completed a 34-yard touchdown strike to Cochran and a 13-yard scoring toss to Jacob Bauman to end the game on the 45-point rule. Azeke Cochran contributed 14 tackles.

St. John’s Angel Ibarra caught two passes for 66 yards. Quarterback Marco Ibarra passed for 79 yards. McCandless rushed for 26 yards.

PEABODY 48, STAFFORD 26

STAFFORD – Peabody back Noal Reynolds rushed for 162 yards and two scores to spark the Warriors past Stafford 48-26 in Monday’s rescheduled 8-Man 2, District 6 football game. Peabody (2-1, 1-0) rushed for 270 yards as Thomas Smith gained 110 yards with two touchdowns. 

Stafford quarterback Dylan Gantz completed a 57-yard touchdown strike to Angel Dominguez and added a touchdown pass to Josh Hildebrand. Gantz rushed for 65 yards and scored a touchdown.

Josh Hildebrand led Stafford’s defense with seven tackles and nine assists. Gantz contributed six tackles and 10 assists. Tarrant Young and Alexis Garcia each contributed 11 tackles.
