BURRTON – St. John's heroic rally ended one point shy in a heartbreaking 40-39 setback to Little River in Sunday's 1A Burrton basketball substate. The Redskins led the entire way, but the Tigers staged a fourth-quarter rally.
The Tigers committed a turnover down 39-36. St. John's Heidi Fisher converted a basket and a clutch 3-pointer to slice the Redskins' lead to 40-39. The Redskins converted a free throw for a 40-36 lead. Little River's Lily Boughfman missed two free throws, but the Tigers were unable to launch a game-winning effort.
Aliana Eck led Little River with 16 points and Lilyan Boughfman added 14 points.
