The Great Bend Boom baseball team dropped three of four games to the last-place Topeka Train Robbers over the weekend. The Boom (8-7) remain in second place in the North Division after a 6-2 start. The Boom play at Garden City Tuesday and return home Wednesday at Al Burns Field against Garden City.
• TRAIN ROBBERS 8, BOOM 6 — Sam Pack’s two-run eight-innning single scored Corey Willig and Connor Sheridan to spark the Topeka Train Robbers to an 8-6 win over the Great Bend Boom Sunday. Reliever Joe Quinones walked three straight batters to start the eighth inning. Pack drove in three runs.
The Boom’s Matt Rembielak delivered four hits and scored three runs. Logan Trowbridge and Dominique Lincoln each drove in two runs. Reece Bell doubled home a run.
• TRAIN ROBBERS 7, BOOM 6 — Topeka’s Sam Peck delivered the game-winning RBI in a 7-6 victory over the Great Bend Boom in 11 innings Saturday. Connor Sheridan walked, stolen second base and scored on Peck’s single off reliever Tyler Blackiston. Chris Scura drove in two runs.
Darryl Baca and Stephen Swagerty each drove in two runs. Quinones and Lincoln each drove in a run.
• TRAIN ROBBERS 6, BOOM 1 — The Train Robbers beat the Great Bend Boom 6-1 on Friday at Al Burns. John De Leon struck out five batters and threw a two-hitter through 62/3 innings. The Boom committed five errors. Lincoln singled home Rembielak for the Boom’s run.
