ELLINWOOD – All-stater Britton Dutton scored 27 points with four steals and Parker Scheck returned to form with a 16-point debut in a 69-24 basketball victory over Ell-Saline. Cody Zink added 11 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Drew Heinz dished out seven assists.

The Cardinals (5-0) led 22-2 after one period and 46-11 at halftime. Ell-Saline (1-4) recently broke a 53-game losing streak.

HAYS – Hoisington's Kylee Hahn scored 10 points in a hard-fought 49-24 non-league loss to 5A Hays High. The Cardinals trailed 21-4 at halftime behind erratic shooting from the field. The Cardinals (3-2) rallied for a 20-point second-half.

Hays High (2-2) was led by Jersey Johnson and Molly Martin with 11 points and Sheldon added 10 points.
