After improving to 9-5 overall, 3-1 in Western Athletic Conference action, beating Liberal High School last Friday night, the Great Bend Lady Panthers basketball team take a break from league play tonight.

Great Bend's girls host Buhler (8-6) at 6 p.m. in non-conference action, followed by the boys game at around 8.

GBHS returns to conference action on Friday night, entertaining Garden City, and then hosts Scott City on Saturday night for parent recognition night and another non-conference game.

Barton headed out to Dodge City

The 19th-ranked Barton Community College's men's basketball team, which sits in third place in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Western Division race with a 19-4 overall record, including a 6-3 conference mark, travels to Dodge City (12-11, 4-5) on Wednesday night.

The men's game tips at 8, preceded by the women's game at 6, at United Wireless Arena.

The Lady Cougars are 12-10, 2-7, and the Lady Conquistadors are 7-16, 1-8.

Barton hosts Garden City in another West game on Saturday night. The women's game is set for 5:30, followed by the men at 7:30 inside Kirkman Activity Center.
