SALINA — Great Bend enjoyed a banner afternoon with three nine-hole personal bests and two top 10 finishers in seventh-place Cailee McMullen (44) and eighth-place Ashlyn Harbaugh (44) at Tuesday’s Salina Central Golf Invitational.
Manhattan (177) was followed by Hays High (178) and Great Bend (183), with a season-best finish at Salina Municpial Golf Course.
Harbaugh, Kendyl Henning (49) and Kirsten Miessler (52) posted career-low nine-hole scores.
“It was very encouraging for us to have four girls shoot in the 40s,” said Great Bend coach Travis McAtee. “Three girls
scored 9-hole, personal bests of their career — Ashlyn, Kirsten, and Kendyl. The girls showed significant improvement from our first outing in Hays. Hopefully our confidence in executing shots is building and we will continue to improve our ball striking, chipping, and putting in the tournaments ahead. We hope to be able to build off this momentum.”
The Panthers continue a busy fall schedule with an 18-hole Dodge City Tournament Thursday and a 9-hole WAC event at Liberal Monday.
Great Bend junior varsity runner-up Dakota Baldwin (25) led a trio of top 10 medalists along with eighth-place Daltry Kurth (30) and ninth-place Allyson Kaiser (30).
