Wade to start for Wildcats

MANHATTAN — Kansas State freshman Dean Wade from St. John is scheduled to start the Wildcats’ basketball opener against Maryland-Eastern Shore at 7 p.m. Friday.
The game will be televised by Fox Sports Kansas City and ESPN3.
K-State starters will be 6-0 guard Kamau Stokes, 6-2 guard Justin Edwards, 6-7 guard Wesley Iwundu, 6-10 Dean Wade and 6-11 forward Stephen Hurt.
The game is part of the CBE Hall of Fame Classic, which continues against Columbia Monday. K-State plays Missouri Nov. 23 at the Sprint Center inKansas City, Mo. with another game Nov. 24.
Friday’s opener is the first of three straight for the Wildcats at home to start the season, including Monday’s doubleheader tilt with Columbia and concluding with South Dakota onFriday, Nov. 20.
K-State is 74-9 in home openers and 23-4 in home openers at Bramlage Coliseum. K-State has a 71-5 record at home in non-conference play dating back to 2006-07.
Kansas State coach Bruce Weber is 15-1 in home openers. K-State won its 2014 season opener, 98-68, over SouthernUtah.
K-State went 2-0 in exhibition play defeating Emporia State, 80-42, on Oct. 30 and Fort Hays State, 70-52, on Nov. 6. The Wildcats have won 18 consecutive home exhibition games.
