PITTSBURG — Dodge City's Emanuel Aguilar kicked a 29-yard field goal with 23 seconds left for a 10-10 tie in the 2022 Kansas Shrine Football Bowl. The West's key play was a 24-yard pass from Cheney's Harrison Voth to Wichita Carroll's Matthew Holthusen. The West stayed alive on a 15-yard pass interference penalty.
Basehor-Linwood's Zack Sisemore's scored on a diving 7-yard touchdown run for a 10-7 East lead with 7:08 left in the fourth quarter.
Sedgwick's Lance Hoffsommer scored on a 10-yard scramble for a first-quarter touchdown. Wichita Collegiate's Austun Villagomez returned an interception 20 yards to set up the 13-yard scoring drive. Junction City's Keghan McConnell also intercepted a pass.
Garden City tackle Terrell Elliott sacked Blue Valley Southwest quarterback Blake Reeder for a loss on 4th-and-1 at the West 15-yard line. The East ran shotgun formation on short yardage.
The East scored a third-quarter safety when a snap from punt formation by Maize South's Evan Cantu was airmailed over Emanual Aguilar's head. Southeast Saline's Matthew Rodriguez preserved a 7-2 lead by recovering Blake Reeder's fumble.
The West leads the all-time series 30-17-2.
