EASTON, Pa. (AP) — Tim Kempton scored 11 points, including a key 3-pointer that came on his first career attempt from the arc, and added 10 rebounds in helping Lehigh defeat Lafayette, 75-71.
Lehigh (10-9, 4-4 Patriot) led by five at halftime and had a 10-point lead with 15:21 left. After Lafayette closed within two, Kempton, a 6-foot-10 sophomore, made his 3-pointer at 3:55 for a 71-66 lead. Lafayette's Dan Trist made a free throw with 1:17 remaining and Seth Hinrichs' jumper cut the lead to two. But after going nearly four minutes without scoring, Lehigh got two free throws each from Kahron Ross and Austin Price, the latter for a 75-71 lead with 17 seconds left. Lafayette (11-8, 3-5) missed its last two shots.
Price led the Mountain Hawks with 16 points. Kempton posted his third straight double-double and 10th this season.
Trist scored 20 points, Nick Lindner 19 and Hinrichs 17.
Lehigh made all 15 of its free throws, Lafayette 21 of 23.
