KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Clark Hunt is regarded as an intensely private man, someone who prefers to operate behind the scenes and away from the spotlight that comes with owning an NFL franchise.
In some ways, that’s about to change.
Hunt fired coach Romeo Crennel on Monday as part of a shakeup of the entire structure of a franchise that his father, the late Lamar Hunt, founded 53 years ago. The younger Hunt said he plans to hire the next coach and that the individual will report to him, rather than through the general manager — a change in the way the team has operated since its inception.
In fact, Hunt has refused to say whether GM Scott Pioli will be retained.

Kansas City secures
No. 1 overall pick in draft
NEW YORK — The Kansas City Chiefs own the No. 1 pick in next April's draft, with the rest of the order set for non-playoff teams.
Kansas City and Jacksonville finished 2-14 each, but the Chiefs had the weaker schedule, earning them the top selection.
The rest of the top 20 picks were announced Monday by the NFL.
Oakland is third, followed by Philadelphia, Detroit, Cleveland, Arizona, Buffalo, the New York Jets and Tennessee.
Then come San Diego, Miami, Tampa Bay, Carolina, New Orleans, St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Dallas, the New York Giants, and Chicago.
