WICHITA (AP) — Fred VanVleet scored 21 points and Ron Baker had 19 to lead No. 9 Wichita State past Tulsa 75-55 on Saturday.

James Woodard scored 16 of his 19 points in the second half for Tulsa (3-3). D'Andre Wright had 13 points for the Golden Hurricane.
Both teams started off hot shooting. When Marquel Curtis hit a 3-pointer just 5:32 into the game, the Golden Hurricane were 6 of 9 from the floor, had made four 3-pointers and led the Shockers 16-15.
But Wichita State kept up its part of the shootout, led by Baker, who made four of Wichita State's eight 3-pointers in the half. Baker, Tekele Cotton and Ria'n Holland hit 3 in a 13-2 run for a 28-18 lead with 7:15 remaining in the half.
Tulsa, meanwhile, missed 11 straight shots while going more than nine minutes without a basket.
VanVleet scored eight points in the half's final four minutes, and Wichita State entered the break leading 40-22.
Tulsa was 1 of 17 from the floor after starting 6 of 9.
VanVleet and Baker carried their momentum into the second half. VanVleet opened the scoring with a reverse lay in, and Baker soon followed with an open 3-pointer.
Tulsa coach Frank Haith jumped off the bench after Baker's 3 and angrily called a timeout.
The Golden Hurricane responded with a 15-2 run. Curtis made a 3-pointer and James Woodard had six points in the run.
Woodard's baseline jumper with 11:04 remaining brought the Hurricane to 47-37.
After a media time-out, Baker sank another 3-pointer to start a 19-5 run that featured four interior points from Carter and extended Wichita State's lead to 59-42 with 7:37 remaining.
