On-Farm Grain Storage program offered

Farmers now have more options for grain storage on farm or at the field edge with grain storage bags. Walnut Creek and Cottonwood Extension District are holding an “On-Farm Grain Storage” program on Wednesday, March 18th. Coffee and donuts will be ready at 8:30 a.m., the program starts at 9 a.m. and concludes at 11:30 a.m. at the Walnut Valley Senior Center, 220 Washington Street in Rush Center. 

There will be a farmer panel that will discuss some of their experiences thus far with grain storage bags and bins, farm storage facility loan program by FSA, and on-farm storage with grain bins will be discussed by Carlos Campabadal, K-State Instructor with the International Grains Program. He will discuss storage aeration, pest control and best management practices.
