The Central Kansas Dream Center is now able to receive grant funding from Thrivent Financial through the Thrivent Choice® program.
The program allows eligible Thrivent members to recommend how a portion of Thrivent Financial’s charitable funds are distributed. Nationwide, nearly $55 million in funding was distributed to more than 25,650 enrolled churches and nonprofit organizations through the program in 2014. More than $225 million has been distributed since the program began in 2010.
“Seeing our members have a say about how charitable dollars are given in their communities is so rewarding,” said Melinda Kurth, Financial Associate serving the Great Bend area. “Thrivent Choice® is one of many outreach programs available from Thrivent Financial designed to help strengthen communities and change lives.”
The Dream Center’s purpose is to reconnect isolated people to God and a community of support, by providing human services that address immediate and long-term needs in the areas of homelessness, hunger relief, and education.
Thrivent Financial, its members and its employees have a positive impact in communities nationwide as a result of giving and volunteerism. In 2014, the organization and its members gave $209.8 million in direct support to charitable organizations, schools, churches and individuals in need. The Thrivent Financial Foundation awarded nearly $16.3 million through its Christian community and corporate community programs.
Thrivent members and others volunteered approximately 10.7 million hours in communities nationwide.
