The new sales representative at Office Products Inc. (OPI) is using his military and business background to expand the reach of the family-owned business throughout central Kansas.
Doug Devlin, a Kansas native, has returned to his roots to serve OPI customers in Stafford, Rice and Rush counties, as well as the towns of Hoisington, Claflin, Bushton and Holyrood.
“I am traveling every day to individual businesses in many surrounding communities,” Devlin said. “If they are not yet customers, I explain OPI’s many benefits. If they are current customers, I determine what they need and see that they get it.”
Those needs include anything from copiers, furniture, pencils, paper and everything in between.
“I was drawn to OPI because of who they are and what they are about,” Devlin commented. “It is family owned and operated, and the customer service exceeds anywhere I have ever worked.”
Devlin’s background includes eight years in the U.S. Navy, where he was a recruiter for three years. For most of those three years, he was in charge of recruitment at Colorado Springs.
The next stop was Florida, and his employment history includes management of a pool/spa store, general manager for Pizza Hut and government contracting for the military.
“I was born in Wichita and our family farm is near Seward,” Devlin said. “It is great to be back in Kansas and near family.”
The OPI employee has two daughters, ages 7 and 9.
Jim Grabbe, OPI sales manager, said he and his colleagues are excited to have someone of Devlin’s caliber meeting with new and potential customers.
“Doug has a wealth of experience and has proven that he has what it takes,” Grabbe said. “He has the commitment and drive to care for customers and help them grow their businesses.”
OPI is located at 1204 Main in Great Bend, 516 Broadway in Larned and 724 N. Main in Russell.
