There have been recent personnel shifts and changes at Eagle Radio – Great Bend. Former News Director, Neil Ochs, resigned to accept a position at Benefit Management Incorporated.
Replacing Ochs is broadcast veteran Steve Webster. According to station manager, Rick Nulton, “stability is something we take pride in. After long time News Director, Jack Hartle retired at the end of 2008...we’ve had a series of people who have taken that position and have done great jobs.” Nulton went on to say...” Steve Webster is one of the most outstanding broadcasters in the state of Kansas and we are very fortunate to have him directing News...and the sports duties he attacks daily including “Sports Day”....4-5 pm Monday through Friday on 1590 – KVGB AM.”
Webster is a native of Pratt. He was the voice of the Fort Hays State Tigers for 14 years. He was also the Executive Producer for the K-State Radio Network, and was also the play-by-play voice for K-State Women’s basketball. Webster also has hosted a sports talk radio show in Wichita and served as the play-by-play voice of the Wichita “Wranglers” who at the time were the Double-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals.
Another new addition at the Eagle Media Center include Cole Reif, a Great Bend native who had been working in North Carolina radio. Cole will be Sports Director and Assistant News Director and brings many talents to the Great Bend operation. Listeners will hear him on 100.7 – Eagle Country – KHOK delivering newscasts at 11:30 and 4:30...and also the Noon News and 5 o’clock local news on 1590 – KVGB AM. Reif is a 2008 graduate of Ft. Hays State University.
