Innovative Livestock Services Inc. (ILS) announced Wednesday that a contract has been signed to purchase the assets and properties of Mid-America Feeders LLC, located northwest of Great Bend. With this acquisition ILS will acquire 100 percent control of this feed yard.
Lee Borck, chairman and chief executive officer of ILS, commented, “Our goal is to complete our due diligence period as quickly as possible and take control by Aug. 1, 2014, to minimize business disruption. ILS is very excited to be adding such a highly experienced manager like Bronson Smith and his well trained staff to our company.”
Chief Operating Officer Jerry Kuckelman stated, “The new name for this feed yard will be Mid-America ILS Inc. ILS’s experience in the industry and its willingness to invest in commercial cattle feeding will ensure a solid growth strategy for Mid-America, its employees and the local community.”
Now with the addition of Mid-America, ILS will have a new feeding capacity of 210,000 head, which ranks ILS as the 8th largest commercial feeder in the United States. ILS will now have 11 feedyards located in Kansas and Nebraska.
