Dr. Maxine Lingurar

Even though Maxine Lingurar, M.D., has discontinued the obstetrics part of her medical practice, she still offers services to gynecological and other patients. Dr. Lingurar and Julie McClaren, ARNP, share the practice at the Women’s Health Center (WHC).

St. Rose Ambulatory & Surgery Center in Great Bend owns the WHC, which is accepting new patients. Referrals are not necessary.

In addition to being a gynecologist, Dr. Lingurar also has family-medicine credentials; she was a family practitioner for a decade in Pratt, Kan., and Kingston, Ontario, Canada.

"If a woman doesn’t have a regular doctor, she should feel free to call for an appointment," Dr. Lingurar said. "We offer care and treatment for a variety of health-care issues. And if a woman has a male family doctor but would rather see a female in some circumstances, she can have her woman-wellness checks here while maintaining a relationship with her family doctor.

"We value a patient’s relationship with her family doctor," Dr. Lingurar added. "But we know there are times when a woman feels more comfortable talking with another woman."

WHC specialties include preventive care and treatment for issues involving bone health, breast health, menopause, menstruation and incontinence. In addition, screenings for common medical problems such as high cholesterol and diabetes are also offered. Patients include those from early adolescence to the elderly.

The family-medicine portion is limited to some basic concerns such as the flu, bladder infections and other conditions. Care also is offered for some common medical conditions such as hypothyroidism and osteoporosis.

Dr. Lingurar serves as a liaison between her office and Great Bend Internists and St. Joseph Family Medicine. St. Rose also owns these two medical practices.

"We are a gateway for referral to a higher level of care," Lingurar said. "Julie and I will do whatever works best for our patients. We have an established patient base and welcome newcomers to our family. But we will refer to our colleagues and other specialists when the situation calls for it."

Dr. Lingurar noted that McClaren brings professionalism and personality to her position as advanced registered nurse practitioner. "Julie has incredible dedication to women and their health. She has a passion and enthusiasm that is unequaled."

In addition, Tatiana Kovtoun, M.D., General Surgeon, is available to WHC patients. Her practice, Central Kansas Surgical Care, is located next door to the WHC.

"Dr. Kovtoun is a great asset to her patients," Dr. Lingurar said. "She offers a full range of General Surgery services including those involving breast health and vein treatments. Her patients can be assured of her professionalism and compassion."
