Students of Farmers Bank & Trust employees receive $4,500 in scholarships

Farmers Bank and Trust awarded employees and their families with scholarships for their college students for the 2016-2017 school year. Nine students received a $500 scholarship to assist with school expenses. A total of $4,500 was awarded for the upcoming school year.
This marks the 13th year of the bank’s annual College Scholarship Program, established as an additional benefit to help employees with the high cost of college expenses as their children pursued educational goals in undergraduate degrees.
The bank has awarded a total of $78,000 in 156 separate scholarships since the inception of the College Scholarship Program. “We strongly believe this program is an important benefit for employees and their families and an opportunity to assist in building leaders in the communities we serve,” said President and CEO W. R. Robbins.
Each student meeting the qualification standards receives a $500 scholarship to assist with their school expenses. Students this year are located in the Great Bend and Overland Park locations and are attending six different colleges located in the Midwest.
Nine students receiving scholarshipsfor the 2016-2017 school year are: McKenna Mauler, attending Flint Hills Technical School as a Junior, pursuing a degree in Dental Hygiene; Adam Neeland, attending Fort Hays State University as a Senior, pursuing a degree in Accounting; Taylor Hofeling, attending Kansas State University as a Sophomore, pursuing a degree in Psychology; Nyssa Owens, attending Kansas State University as a Junior, pursuing a degree in English; Hunter Harrison, attending Kansas State University as a Senior, pursuing a degree in Finance and Entrepreneurship; Chad Touslee, attending Kansas State University as a Senior, pursuing a degree in Geography; Carley Eschliman, attending Cornell University as a Freshman, pursuing a degree in Atmospheric Science; Evan Eschliman, attending University of Chicago as a Junior, pursuing a degree in Biology and Public Policy; Jordan Zerr, attending University of Kansas as a Freshman, pursuing a degree in Nursing.
Employees and their students appreciate the extra funds to assist with tuition and books. Several of the employees have received scholarships for multiple children in the family over the years. The bank has assisted employees with anywhere from one to four children while attending college. Students are eligible for up to four years of undergraduate assistance.
