Van Wyk Inc. has a Christmas tradition of issuing a charitable giving matching challenge to employees. Three charities are selected each year, one from each community where the company has terminals, and employees are invited to make a donation. The company matches dollar-for-dollar whatever employees donate to the select charities.
David Roat, Great Bend terminal manager, suggested that this year Van Wyk partner with the Great Bend Fraternal Order of Police and their “Shop-with-a-Cop” program. Once again, the Van Wyk team of truck drivers, mechanics and officer personnel stepped up and gave generously.
A total of $7,200 was donated by the company and its employees, with $2,400 going to the Great Bend “Shop-with-a-Cop” program.
Van Wyk Inc. is a family owned trucking company based in Sheldon, Iowa with terminals in Waynesboro, Va., and Great Bend. It operates 210 trucks and 340 refrigerated trailers throughout the U.S. and employs approximately 250 people.
