Susan Wright and her son Jim Hopkins are celebrating the 1st year anniversary of their business, The Wright Place, at 1913 Lakin Ave. The little flea market that is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday thru Saturday and offers a variety of items collected and displayed by several vendors, including collectibles, antiques, furniture, jewelry and home decor.
“I have always thought about having my own place and this just seemed the right fit for us and we find we are enjoying it immensely,” said Wright.
Wright, grandmother to seven girls and great-grandmother of six boys and four girls, was born and raised in Great Bend. Hopkins has been a resident of the area most of his adult life and is the father of four girls and has one grandson. After being laid off from his previous job he told his mom it would be the perfect time to open a store.
The store is family run and includes the help of Wright’s sister and brother-in-law, Marcia and Cliff McCraw, with moral support from her sister-in-law Pat Mauch and her daughter Vikki Dixon.
The public is invited to an anniversary celebration from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 3, with refreshments, prizes and giveaways.
