Each fall we begin to plan for next year’s extension programs. An important part of that planning is the election of new people to serve on our various Program Development Committees. The Extension Executive Board set Wednesday, October 28, from 8 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. as the time to vote for the 2016 Extension Council candidates. Come by the Extension Office meeting room at 1800 12th Street to vote.
Candidates for the Family and Consumer Science positions include: Deanna Essmiller, Debbie Brown and Nancy Baird. Deanna is eligible to serve a second 2 year term while Debbie and Nancy will be new to the council. All three have been great supporters of Extension through the years either through involvement in 4-H, FCE or community activities. These three candidates will join Colleen Newman, Susan Young and Annette Goering who are in the middle of their two year terms on the committee. I would also like to thank Gwen Klepper and Joyce Burnham who completed their terms.
This past year I have appreciated the input from current PDC members. At our May meeting I was encouraged to utilize media more to let people know what Extension Family and Consumer Sciences is all about. I created a Facebook page where I can post research based information that crosses my desk as well as letting people learn more about upcoming educational programs. Another activity of our Program Development Committee was to assist me with a booth at the recent Women’s Expo sponsored by the Great Bend Tribune.
Feel free to give me a call or e-mail any ideas you have for Extension programming in the coming year.
