4-H Small Bore competitors finish strong

On Aug. 17, three Barton County 4-Hers traveled to Reno County to compete in a 4-H small bore rifle competition. Caleb Straub from Great Bend competed in the senior division. Katelyn Reh from Ellinwood and Parker Smith from Great Bend competed in the junior division. Parker placed 2nd and Katelyn placed 4th.
On Aug. 24, Barton County 4-Hers traveled to Hays to compete in the Ellis Co 4-H small bore rifle competition. Parker Smith and Katelyn Reh competed in the junior division. Parker placed 2nd and Katelyn tied for 4th. Ryan Kohman from Great Bend and Caleb Straub competed in the senior division. Ryan placed 2nd. Both Ryan and Caleb turned in scores high enough to qualify for the State 4-H Small Bore Match while at the Hays competition.
The 4-Hers will continue to practice one night a week at the Kiowa Gun Club in preparation for the State 4-H Small Bore Match. That match will take place on Oct. 5 at the Capital City Gun Club near Topeka.
