American Legion announces Hawaiian Luau

This patriotic quilt made by Margaret Evers will be given away in a drawing on Nov. 25. Tickets for the draw go on sale Saturday, Aug. 6, at the American Legion Post 180’s 11th Annual Hawaiian Luau Fundraiser.

The 11th Annual Hawaiian Luau Fundraiser for the American Legion Post No. 180 is set for Saturday, Aug. 6, at the Post, 1011 Kansas Ave. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6 p.m.

The menu includes smoked ribs, pulled pork and chicken prepared by Rick Munsch. Scalloped potatoes, baked beans and many other sides will be furnished by the American Legion Auxiliary.

A silent auction will start when the doors open and there will be a live auction just before the dance.

The dance featuring The Locals is from 8-11 p.m.

Tickets are $20 if purchased in advance. They are available from any American Legion Auxiliary member or by stopping by the American Legion after 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tickets will be $25 at the door.

Proceeds go to veterans organizations and the Golden Plains Quilts of Valor.

Tickets will go on sale for a quilt made by Margaret Evers for the Golden Belt Quilts of Valor group. Ticket sales will continue through Nov. 25 when the winner will be drawn at the Quilts of Valor presentation.
