Arnold and Joyce Essmiller of Great Bend will celebrate their 70th anniversary with a Come and Go reception from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 19, at the First Presbyterian Church parlor, 24th and Washington Street in Great Bend. The couple request no gifts. Hosts for the reception will be their children, Jan Bolick of Carmel, Ind,, ArNell Briel (Jon) of Great Bend, and Jadean Takao (Eric), Kailua, Hawaii. The couple has four grandchildren, Brent Bolick (Amy) of Jacksonville, Fla., Wendy Sundahl (Shane) of Chapman, Robin Murphy (Matt) of Fishers, Ind. and Hayley Dicks (Shane) of Great Bend; and eight great-grandchildren, Sophie and Olivia Bolick, Conner Deer and Brady Murphy, Dalton and Parker Dicks, and Slade and Darby Sundahl.
Arnold Essmiller and Joyce Phillips were married on Jan. 19, 1944. Lifetime residents of the area, Arnold is a retired farmer, and founder and former owner of Essmiller Oil Company, a Standard Oil/Amoco distribution company. Joyce worked for Farm Bureau, Steadman & Hawk Accountants and Midwest Energy before her retirement.
