August and Vada Freund will celebrate their 60th anniversary on June 18 with a dinner.
August Freund and Vada Folck were united in marriage on May 26, 1951 in Little River. August is retired from Baker-Hughes. Vada is a retired teacher from USD 428. The couple has five children, Charla and Darren Thornton of Denver City, Texas, Michael and Deborah Freund of Great Bend, Mary Kay and Bruce Kelm of Shawnee, Eric and Kathy Freund of Lyons and Mark and Loren Freund of Atlantic, Iowa.; nine grandchildren, Danielle Tuler of Olathe, Leslie Reese, Abigail Kelm and Benjamin Kelm, all of Shawnee, Jay Thornton of Denver City, Texas, Barret Freund and Anna Freund, both of Great Bend, Andrew Freund of Eagle, Colo., and Craig Freund of Denver, Colo.; and six great-grandchildren, Alexis and Joey Tyler of Olathe, Ellie, Mia, and Rigley Reese of Shawnee, and Kylie Freund of Great Bend.
