Leon A. and Joan E. Werth will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary today with a Come and Go reception from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the Senior Center, 2005 Kansas Ave, Great Bend. The couple requests no gifts.
Leon and Joan were united in marriage on Aug. 30, 1955, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Schoenchen. They have been residents of Great Bend since 1963. In 1967, they started their own business, Leon Werth Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning. They owned and operated the business
until they retired in 1997. The couple has six children, Colleen Kohls and husband Doug, Keith Werth and wife Ann, Neil Werth and wife Fran, all of Great Bend, Michelle Schenkel and husband Todd of Topeka, Denise Thole and husband Tony of Olathe and Kurt Werth and wife Dionne of Cimarron; 18 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
