The Artists at Large group has set up an exhibit at the Great Bend Public Library than can be viewed throughout the month of October.

With 20 members and growing, Artists at Large of Central Kansas meets monthly at the Great Bend Public Library to share ideas and exhibit artwork together. Meetings are at 4:30 p.m. on the first Wednesday of the month on the lower level of the library.

Chairman Brian Thayer from rural Hoisington said this exhibit shows the variety of paintings, photography and ceramics that members create. His own works range from abstracts to land/seascapes, including ship scenes that pay homage to the four years he spent in the Navy.

Several of the members’ works are also currently featured the annual Barton County Arts Council “Friends and Acquaintances” exhibit now showing at Barton Community College’s Shafer Art Gallery.

The public can meet the artists at the exhibit reception, from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22. The annual Friends of the Library Book Sale will also be going on at that time.
