Betty Banks will celebrate her 90th birthday on March 23, 2019, with a come-and-go reception from 2-4 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall in Great Bend.
Hosting the celebration will be her husband and family including her four children Jerry (Debra), Jim (Trish), Mary (Chris), and David (Peggy), plus seven grandchildren and 17 great- and great-great grandchildren. Betty is a five-generation grandmother.
Betty was born March 27, 1929, to Kenneth and Agnes Clawson. She married Wayne (Buzz) Banks on May 22, 1955, at the First United Methodist Church in Great Bend. In Betty’s working days she was a waitress at the American Legion for 23 years, worked in the business office of the Bell Telephone Company for 30 years, and was an assistant at Golf Cartner where she broadcast daily market reports and closing stocks on the radio, all in Great Bend.
Betty loved to bowl, dance, and play cards. She still plays cards several times a month and watches lots of sports on TV, including her favorite, the Wichita State Shockers. Betty and Wayne were instrumental in creating the Sunflower Polka Club.
