Opal A. (Butler) Weaver will celebrate her 98th birthday from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sept. 17 with an open house. Friends and family are invited to share in the celebration at the Cedar Park Place gathering room. Opal, formerly of Holyrood, moved to Cedar Park Place in Great Bend in January of 2000. Hosts for the event will be her children, Max and JaNelda Manor of Wamego, Gene and Karen Weaver of Wichita, Donna Campbell of Larned, Keith and Oleta Beckwith of Great Bend, Terry and Carolyn Holland of Baton Rouge, La., and Gary and Vicki

Opal was born in Arkansas but spent most of her life in central Kansas. She graduated from Claflin High School. After her marriage to Lilburn P. Weaver on June 30, 1937, she and her family resided in Holyrood.
