Don and Catherine (Herrman) Brening were united in marriage, Sept. 4, 1961, in LaCrosse. There, they raised their children, Kim, Kevin, and Kelli. In 1993, the couple moved to Great Bend. In 2010, after 43 years in banking, Don retired from Farmer’s Bank and Trust. Catherine retired from Golden Belt Community Foundation. The couple then built their current home and moved to Hutchinson for retirement where they could enjoy the activities of a few of their grandchildren.
Don and Catherine celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a week in Breckenridge, Colo., at the Bear Cabin with their entire family. They have three children, nine grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
Attending the celebration were: Their children, Kim Brening Solomon of Vienna, Austria, Kevin and his wife, Pat (Stegman) Brening of Hutchinson, Kelli Brening Hirneisen and her husband, Brent Hirneisen of Frisco, Texas; and grandchildren, Jerod and his wife Laura (Kasten) Solomon of Vallejo, Calif., with their daughter Juniper, Jessica (Solomon) Martindale and her husband Kyle Martindale of Oak Park, Calif., with their daughter Myla Julia Solomon of Oak Park, Calif., with Ryan Walton of Salt Lake City, Utah, Caleb and Tiara (Pettijohn) Brening of Fayetville, Ark., Konner Brening of Kansas City, Nikola Negovanovic of Vienna, Austria, Jaden Hirneisen of Frisco, Texas, and Adrianna Negovanovic of Vienna, Austria. Kyndal Brening of Manhattan was unable to attend.
The week was spent celebrating with family time at the Bear Cabin, hiking, biking, and enjoying the town of Breckenridge, Colo., where Don and Catherine often vacationed with their young children. The family made many new memories to add to earlier fond memories of the area.
Don and Catherine reside in their home in the Sand Hills subdivision of Hutchinson.
