Greetings from the Great Bend Public Library. It’s almost September which means the return of fall programing. We will be closed for Labor Day but then staring Tuesday we begin fall programing. And since it’s a new month that means it’s time for a new spice of the month. Grab yours before they are gone starting Tuesday.
Also happening Tuesday is the kick-off for the Smokey the Bear Reading Challenge. Come celebrate Smokey’s 80th birthday by joining this challenge. Participants will read about wildfire prevention, forests and natural resource careers while exploring our local environment. Grab your reading challenge packet during our all-day kickoff on Sept. 3.
Wednesday is a special Tween Scene event. Tweens will get to try out our typically teen-only event Casual Game Day. It’s dance party time for tweens in grades 3-5. Get your groove on and see if you can keep up the rhythm to a variety of songs from chart-topping hits to classic dance party tracks in Just Dance 3.
Lastly, Thursdays are back with tons to do at the library, starting with Genealogy Thursday. Come in Thursdays from 11 a.m. to noon and our resident genealogy expert will be happy to help you fill out that family tree. Then that evening at 6 p.m., bring your appetite because our resident chef Lisa is back with Delicious Dishes this fall. Learn a delicious and easy new recipe plus get a chance to taste test it before you make it at home.
After you fill up on some tasty food, why not wash it down with some delicious craft beer at Dry Lake Brewing during our Ted Lasso Trivia Night. Test your Football knowledge (the British kind) and see how well you know everyone’s favorite lovable coach during our multiple choice trivia night. The winning team will win a free round of drinks and a pretty cool Ted Lasso themed prize. Sign up your team of one to four on our website now. Don’t forget to grab a fall catalog so you can keep up to date with all the upcoming trivia nights and other library events this fall.
