Greetings from the Great Bend Public Library! While we don’t have any programming this week, we do next week, starting Aug. 31!

First off, as always, we have our Crochet Club that meets every Thursday at 4 p.m. This is a great time for beginners and experts alike to work on projects with their fellow crocheters while enjoying each other’s company and helping each other stay motivated. All skill levels are welcome and we do have supplies if you are just starting out or forgot yours at home.

At 6 p.m. on Aug. 31, we have a new cooking class brought to us by our resident library chef Lisa. For this class, she will be focusing on easy weekday meals, which is perfect for this busy back-to-school time. It’s never a bad idea to have a few fail-safe meals up your sleeve, after all. Come learn three quick and easy meals for the nights when you don’t have time to cook.

After you learn some meal hacks, make your way downstairs for delicious popcorn and a movie at 7 p.m. This month we will be watching a movie about friends Kathy (Carey Mulligan), Tommy (Andrew Garfield), and Ruth (Keira Knightley) growing up together at a seemingly idyllic boarding school in the English countryside. When they finally leave the school and the horrible truth of their true purpose is revealed to them, they must simultaneously confront deep-seated feelings of love, jealousy, and betrayal that threaten to tear their friendship asunder and make them consider the meaning and purpose of their life. To get more info on the film or to join our group, where you can talk to other film fans, make suggestions for future films, and get updates on what’s going on with the club, check out the club’s webpage here: https://greatbendpl.info/great-bend-silver-screen-society/
