The Kansas Dance Academy from Wichita will perform Dec. 5 at the Larned Community Center.

The Larned Music Club proudly presents “The Spirit of Christmas,” a holiday spectacular by the Kansas Dance Academy in Wichita, at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 5, at the Larned Community Center.

The KDA 150-plus dancers, ages 5-18, will perform an hour-long program of holiday and sacred dances befitting the season. Admission tickets of $5 are available from Music Club members and at the door; contact Club President Connie Carlton (620-285-9216). Proceeds for this performance will go to scholarships offered by the Larned Music Club to Pawnee County students.

Academy founder and Larned native Diane Converse Gans has been its director and owner for 36 years. The daughter of Alan and the late Naomi Converse, Diane began her dance education in Larned under the direction of Carl Maybach. Upon his retirement, she continued her education with Dorothy Donnely in Great Bend before moving to Wichita, to dance with the Kansas Dance Foundation under Patrick Crommett.

This KDA Christmas program, offered only every two years, returns to Larned by popular demand after their 2017 appearance.
