The 22nd-annual Friends of National Rifle Association banquet and fundraiser was held Aug. 13, at the Stoneridge Country Club in Great Bend. Over 100 attendees spent the evening playing various games vying for some great prizes. A silent and live auction were also held. Friends of NRA events are held all over the state. Half of the money raised at these events stays in the state to support shooting sports for organizations like 4H clubs, schools, shooting clubs, etc. The other half goes to the national level. Last year, over $171,000 were handed out in grants all over the state. This years event raised over $14,000, so $7,000 dollars of that will stay here in Kansas.
