4-H Air rifle season gets started

Will Clark of Great Bend shoots prone position at Sedgwick County match

On Jan. 17, five 4-H’ers from Barton County traveled to Wichita to compete in the Sedgewick Co 4-H Air Rifle Match.
In the 11 to 14 year old division, Will Clark from Great Bend placed 7th, Katelyn Reh from Ellinwood placed 2nd and Parker Smith from Great Bend placed 1st.
In the 16 year old division, Lake Lyman from Ellinwood finished 6th.
In the 17 to 18 year old division, Ryan Kohman from Great Bend finished 5th.
The Barton county team was Parker, Katelyn, Lake and Ryan and finished the day as the 2nd place team.
Ryan, Parker and Katelyn had scores in the top 10 overall scores for the match. Because of those scores, Katelyn and Parker competed in the Top Shot Grudge Match at the end of the day. Katelyn lasted 3 rounds and Parker held on to win the match.
The Barton County 4-H Shooting Sports leaders will be hosting the Winter Classic on Feb. 21, at the Expogrounds west of Great Bend. The air rifle competition will be held in Expo I and the archery shoot will be held in Expo III. The public is invited to attend and learn more about the 4-H shooting sports program.
