LARNED — Connie Carlton hosted all of the members of the chapter at a noon luncheon along with the Mother’s Day Committee on Monday, May 14.
A thank you was extended to all those who cooked the meal and especially to Connie Carlton and Glenna Melkus who provided sweets to members to take home.
Following the meal, president Patty Smith called the business meeting to order with the usual reports.
The Beta Book Drill was on the Award of Distinction, seldom given.
Announcements included the recent Founder’s Day event hosted by Kappa Psi chapter with Margaret Larson chosen as Women of the Year and a summer social will be held, time and date to be announced. A thank you note was read from Margaret Larson as well as verbal thank you’s from all those who received Mother’s Day cards.
Perfect attendance floral gifts were extended to Marcia King, Alice Clapsaddle, and Glenna Melkus.
An installation of officers was held for the following — Alice Clapsaddle, president; Merlene Baird, vice president; Margaret Larson, recording secretary; Marcia King, corresponding secretary; Glenna Melkus, treasurer; and Patty Smith, extension officer.
Members signed up for hostesses, programs, and committees for the 2018-2019 year. Program of the year was awarded to Connie Carlton and Glenna Melkus. The program “Honoring Mothers” was presented by Connie Carlton and Glenna Melkus.
The meeting ended by rituals for Merlene Baird, Laureate and Janet Skelton, Torchbearer with both receiving new pins and yellow roses. The theme for the coming year will be “A Quilt of Friendship.”
