On March 1, the parents of Barton County 4H Air Rifle kids braved the winter weather conditions and traveled to Hays so the 4H’ers could compete in the Ellis County 4H Air Rifle Match.
In the 11 and under age division, Will Clark, from Great Bend, placed 2nd and Dalton Dicks, also from Great Bend, placed 4th.
In the 12 and 13 year old division, Parker Smith, from Great Bend, placed 1st. Katelyn Reh, from Ellinwood, placed 2nd.
In the 14 and 15 year old division, Lake Lyman, from Ellinwood, placed 2nd. Caleb Straub from Great Bend placed 5th.
In the 16 and older age division, Ryan Kohman, from Great Bend, placed 3rd.
There were 12 counties, from the western half of the state, represented at the match. The Barton county team of Ryan Kohman, Lake Lyman, Parker Smith and Katelyn Reh finished with the 1st place team award.
Four competitors will travel to Gray county for a match on March  8.
