On April 11, ten Barton County 4-H’ers traveled to Alma to compete in the 2015 State 4H Air Rifle Match.
These competitors qualified for the State Match by scoring at least 400 points out of 600 possible points in at least one qualifying match, held at the county level, earlier in the spring.
In the Junior Division, 9 to 13 year old, there were 20 competitors. From Barton County, Dalton Dicks, from Great Bend, placed 5th and Will Clark, also from Great Bend, placed 7th. Dalton also had the highest score, in the standing position in the Junior Division.
In the Senior Division, 14 to 18 year old, there were 73 competitors. From Barton County, competing in this division, were Katelyn Reh from Ellinwood, Ryan Kohman from Great Bend, Parker Smith from Great Bend, Lake Lyman from Ellinwood, Caleb Straub from Great Bend, Alivia Bautista from Great Bend, Jace Schwager from Great Bend and Aron Vainer from Great Bend. It was Alivia, Jace and Aron’s first time to compete in the State Match. The Barton County team placed 4th out of 12 teams. The team was made up of four competitors in the Senior Division. Katelyn Reh led the team with an 11th place finish, Ryan Kohman who placed 17th, Parker Smith who placed 22nd and Lake Lyman who placed 28th.
