The Barton County Association of Retired School Personnel met on March 8 at Montana Mike’s in Great Bend. President Sally O’Connor presided over the meeting. There were 35 members and three guests present.
A legislative report was given by don Halbower about the bills being proposed in Topeka at this time. Members birthdays in January, February and March were recognized.
The program on Habitat for Humanity was given by Rachel Mawhirter, with help from board members Sharon King and Kim Vink. They spoke about the criteria for new home owners, how they raise funds to build homes and encouraged BCARSP members to get involved with their next project, which will be refurbishing an existing home.
All retired school personnel in Barton County are invited and encouraged to become involved in the local group. The next meeting will be on May 10 at Montana Mike’s with Curtis Wolf presenting the program, “Sights and Sound of Cheyenne Bottoms.” Retired school personnel are invited to get involved and guests are always welcome.
