Each year, the Great Bend Pilot Club supports the efforts of Pilot International through a multitude of activities. The original Foundation - Pilot International Foundation was established in 1975 to support the community-based work of Pilot Clubs by promoting the awareness and prevention of brain-related disorders, and improving the lives of those affected by such disorders, through education, volunteerism, financial support and research.
The club membership each year chooses among its members one member that exemplifies the attributes of a Pilot. The member chosen as the PI Ambassador must be active in an assigned role within the club, promote and support the aims of Pilot International and its activities, be active in a project that exemplifies the brain-related service focus of the Pilot International and be faithful in attending meetings and give generously of her time to assist with service projects and fundraising activities.
The 2017-2018 Great Bend Kansas Pilot Ambassador is Joyce Beadles-Fry. Joyce has been an active and passionate member of the Great Bend Pilot Club for many years and served in several areas of leadership, and club positions. Pilot International Foundation representative Jari Marietta made the presentation to Joyce at the Sept. 5 business meeting. Joyce commented, “It’s great being a part of a great group of Pilots. It truly is an honor to be named as this year’s Ambassador.”
The club will make a donation to Pilot International to honor and recognize Joyce as this year’s Pilot International Ambassador.
