CKARSP meeting

The Central Kansas Association of Retired School Personnel met on March 13, at Montana Mike’s in Great Bend. President Sally O’Connor presided over the meeting. There were 41 members present, along with Vermeene Forsberg, KARSP District IV Director.
The group heard reports from the Legislative Committee considering the Block Grant. Concern was expressed over the budget shortfall and the Legislative Platform put forth by the KARSP Legislative Committee, which has been largely ignored.
LaVerne Lessor spoke about the State Convention and encouraged members to attend. This year’s convention will be in Hutchison, June 10, 11 and 12.
Vermeene Forsberg gave brief remarks.
Susan Young spoke on her desire to be a member of the Great Bend School Board with the upcoming primary election.
All retired school personnel in central Kansas are invited and encouraged to become involved in the local group.  
The next meeting will be at 11:30 a.m. on May 8, at Montana Mike’s with David Barnes speaking. Retired school personnel are invited to get involved and guests are always welcome.
