Claflin Lions Club members will be selling tickets for their Annual Seafood Buffet now through March 20. The menu for the evening will include all you can eat servings of fish, shrimp, clam chowder, scalloped potatoes, vegetables, bread, coffee or tea.
Lions Club members will also be accepting donations of your old eyeglasses, hearing aids, bicycles and bicycle parts. The eyeglasses and hearing aids are taken to a sorting facility in Texas and eventually sent to developing countries for distribution, the bicycles and parts are taken to the Ellsworth Correctional Facility for the Bicycle Recycle Program. You are asked to bring the bikes and parts with you the night of the event. Inquire at the ticket table for help with unloading. The eyeglasses and hearing aids can be dropped off at the ticket table when you enter the building.
Net proceeds from the Annual Seafood Buffet are used for Claflin and Barton County area events and activities such as: The Annual Claflin Easter Egg Hunt in the city park, Central Plains Scholarship Program, the purchase of eyeglasses for the needy, to help support the Kansas Lions State Band representatives from Central Plains High School, for Barton County Community College scholarship donations, donations for Leader Dogs for the blind, donations to the Clara Barton Hospital, Bicycle Recycle Program, local Bicycle Safety Day, and many other local events.
