The colorful glower gardens planned by Claude Monet of France later painted by him were shown in pictures by Nancy Swafford at the Sept. 20 meeting of Great Bend Garden Club.
Nancy Williams was hostess. Seventeen members were present at the County Extension Office.
“Artis Money was as much a horticulturist as he was a painter” said Swafford. He painted his flower gardens in a sort of “Self Focus” manner during the Impressionist era. The Impression period also was expressed in music composition and other art forms.
Alice Young, chairman for the Memorial Rose Garden at the city cemetery, reported on work needed at the garden this fall.
The next meeting will be at 10 a.m. on Nov. 18 at the Extension Office with Darlene Boley as hostess. Alice Young will relate the saga of “Tulip Mania”.
